Not seen this one before: I wised up quickly but looked very genuine -an email from VM suggesting that my PC could have a virus. Thinks: How could VM possibly know that my machine could have a virus especially as I use one of the best anti-virus programmes and a firewall? Well they wouldn't would they so I dumped it without opening.
Depends, Dont forget VM will be monitoring your traffic, if they see something that they know is a virus then they DO send folks e-mails.
Heres one regarding the XCodeGhost Trojan and iOS devices ..... https://help.virginmedia.com/syst...ELP-2297/XCodeGhost-Malware-Alert
As long as the e-mail headers prove its from VM then the chances are it is from them.
No Virus/Firewall is infallible so I'd do some basic checks on the e-mail before discounting it totally, a quick google should help.
After a while one gets a "nose" for these scams. First check the sender's email address, second never click a link in an email unless you are absolutely sure that the message is genuine. Best not to click a link anyway.
